MAT’LS FIRE TEST WG • T/A oil burner variability (nozzle, air box, airflow) – testing configurations • New (oil) burner being developed (shop air, etc.) • Burnthrough AC issued – 4 OEM’s visited • OSU/NBS R/R – being initiated • Seat oil burner R/R – being initiated • Lightweight seats – criteria developed – based on full-scale tests  • Electrical wiring • Ducting – test based on RPT  • Composite fuselage/structures (fire resistance)

SYS FIRE PROT’N WG • Handheld AC 20-42XX (clean agents)  • Engine/cargo MPS being completed – started testing Novec 1230 • Nitrogen inerting • Fuel tank ignition reduction rule – main approach: NEA from ASM’s (membranes) • Investigating NEA use in isolated/inaccessible areas (cargo compartments, attic areas, bays, etc.) • Testing to quantify concentrations & performance • Integrated Fire Protection (IFP) R&D • Integration of on-board firefighting resources (1301, nitrogen, water, etc.)  1st: cargo compts • Lithium-ion batteries – halon controls
