Lincoln Electric System • Publicly-Owned Municipal Utility – Serving Approximately 200 Square miles within Lancaster County NE. • Governed by LES Administrative Board • The City Council approves rates, budget and debt financing • Approximately 128,800 retail customers • Retail Energy Sales – 3.1 billion kWh • Peak Demand – 779 MW (2006) • LES Revenues - $245.7 million • Overall Average rate 7.00 cents/kWh

  3. Forecast Peak Loads • 2010 – 750 MW • 2020 – 835 MW (average 1.1% growth) • 2010 Long Range Forecast for 2020 is 66 MW lower than the 2009 forecast

  4. LES Electric System Summary Transmission • 76 circuit miles of 345 kV lines; • 12 circuit miles of 161 kV lines; • 197 circuit miles of 115 kV lines; Distribution – • 1,921 circuit miles of 35 kV and 12 kV primary distribution lines;

Local Planning Criteria • Normal Operation-no outages • All facilities within normal ratings • All voltages between .95 and 1.05pu • Single contingency from normal • All facilities within normal ratings • All voltages between .95 and 1.05pu • Another contingency after a single contingency • All facilities within Emergency ratings • All voltages between .95 and 1.05pu • System can readjust to normal

  6. Transfer of Load at West Lincoln to 115/12kV from 115/35kV • Add NW 70th & Fairfield Substation in the year 2012 with 115/12kV transformer • Retire 35kV substations at NW 38th & Cumming and NW 48th & Adams • Retire West Lincoln 115/35kV Transformer T082 in the year 2014 • Retire West Lincoln 115/35kV Transformer T083 in the year 2018

  7. 115kV line from 57th & Garland to 84th & Leighton • Project: rebuild a 2-mile overhead 115kV line • Reason: age and need for a higher thermal capacity • Expected Complete Date: 2012

  8. 115kV line from 17th & Holdrege to 21st & N to 30th & A to 56th & Everett • Project: replace 115kV underground cable with new 115kV overhead line • Reason: age • Expected Complete Date: 2012 thru 2016

  9. 115kV line from Sheldon to 20th & Pioneers and 115kV Folsom & Pleasant Hill Substation • Project: rebuild a 115kV overhead line • Project: add a 115kV substation and re-terminate 115kV lines • Reason: age, need for a higher thermal capacity, and need for a new substation • Expected Complete Date: 2010 thru 2012

  10. 115kV line from SW7th & Bennet to 40th & Rokeby • Project: Construct a new 115kV overhead line • Reason: Future System Growth • Expected Complete Date: 2014
