History • Los Angeles ,frontier town in the early 1870s • Judge Robert Maclay Widney establishing a university in the region • in 1879 Widney formed a board of trustees • a donation of 308 lots of land from three members of the community • USC first with 53 students and 10 teachers in 1880. • Today, USC has: - more than 33,000 students & nearly 3,200 full-time faculty. located in the heart of one of the biggest metropolises in the world
