  2. Example 1 Tim does not want to spend more than $50.00 on a new pair of vans. Select all of the following descriptions of prices for a pair of vans that Tim would buy. 10% off $53.00 15% off $65.00 30% off $80.00 $47.60, plus a $2.20 shipping fee $46.35, plus a $5.35 shipping fee $48.75, plus a $5.15 shipping fee Explain how we would solve these problems. We need to multiply then subtract from the original price. You also need to add the price and the shipping cost.
  3. Work space 10% off $53.00 .10(53) = 5.3 Yes 53 - 5,3 = $47.70 15% off $65.00 .15(65) = 9.75 No 65 – 9.75 = $55.25 30% off $80.00 .30(80) = 24 No 80 – 24 = $56.00 $47.60, plus a $2.20 shipping fee 47.60 + 2.20 = $49.80 Yes $46.35, plus a $5.35 shipping fee 46.35 + 5.35 = $51.70 No $48.75, plus a $5.15 shipping fee 48.75 + 5.15 = $53.90 No
  4. Example 2 A real estate agent receives a salary of $425 per week and a 3% commission on all house sales. In 4 weeks, she sells $200,000 worth of homes. What does she earn during this 4-week period? Find salary 2. find commission 425 a week 200,000 home sales x 4 weeks x .03 1,700 a month 6,000 in comm. 6,000 home sales + 1,700 salary 7,700 in 1 month
  5. Explanation Explain how you found your answer. The way I found out how much he made in a month is by first calculating his salary. I did this by multiplying $425 by 4 weeks. Then I found out how much commission he made by multiplying 200,000 by 3% commission. Then lastly I added the salary and the total commission.
