  1. What Do We Desire? Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved. (Romans 10:1 RSV)

  2. God’s Covenant People • For he finds fault with them when he says: "The days will come, says the Lord, when I will establish a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah; not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; for they did not continue in my covenant, and so I paid no heed to them, says the Lord. This is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. (Hebrews 8:8-10 RSV)

  3. God Wants His Law Written On Your Heart… • 'This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the precepts of men.'" (Matthew 15:8-9 RSV)

  4. God Wants His Law Written On Your Heart… • "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you tithe mint and dill and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law, justice and mercy and faith; these you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. You blind guides, straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel! (Matthew 23:23-24 RSV)

  5. What God Requires… • "And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments and statutes of the LORD, which I command you this day for your good? (Deuteronomy 10:12-13 RSV)

  6. What God Requires… • "With what shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before God on high? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my first-born for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?" He has showed you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? (Micah 6:6-8 RSV)

  7. The Way To A Happy And Fulfilling Life… • Duties to Please God… • Love The Lord with our all. • Love our neighbor as our self. • Walk in His Ways. • My Personal Desires… • To be Happy • A Big House • A Great Job (Good Money) • A Big Boat, ATV, etc. • A Big Truck • Beautiful Clothes • A lot of friends • A Great Retirement

  8. God’s Will Was Christ’s Desire… • So Jesus said, "When you have lifted up the Son of man, then you will know that I am he, and that I do nothing on my own authority but speak thus as the Father taught me. And he who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what is pleasing to him." (John 8:28-29 RSV) • If you had known me, you would have known my Father also; henceforth you know him and have seen him." (John 14:7 RSV) • Again, for the second time, he went away and prayed, "My Father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, thy will be done." (Matthew 26:42 RSV)

  9. How Can My Duties Become My Desires? • Realize it is Possible. • Philippians 3:4-9 • Galatians 2:20 • Start Practicing Your Duties. • Obedience • Help Others • Teach • Read Your Bible to Know Your Duties. • Pray For Assistance. • Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me. (Psalms 51:10 RSV)

  10. With God’s Help, Our Duties Can Become Our Desires… Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for God is at work in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. Do all things without grumbling or questioning, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain. (Philippians 2:12-16 RSV)
