  1. Faux Elementary Action Plana six-step marketing blueprint CI440 PRESENTED BY mike havener

  2. Redesign the library to make it more inviting and attractive Create a list of all the services and that the library media center offers. Set up a meeting with the administrator to discuss my role. Create physical/digital posters to advertise the library media center. Step One:take action! In order to provide Faux Elementary with the library media center that it deserves, targeted immediate aggressive actions must be instituted. = students = faculty = administrator = everyone Locate books and materials for non-English speaking students. = linguistic

  3. start of year end of quarter1 end of quarter2 end of quarter3 end of year Step Two:establish the timeline A realistic timeline is necessary in order to set goals and monitor progress. This timeline is living but rough, and will change and evolve as necessary to fit the needs of Faux Elementary School. - set up library - start collaborating with teachers - begin weeding? - set up a fresh, new website - establish rapport with students/faculty - start collecting data - end of year student celebration - meet with administrator - learn the name of every student in the school - start thinking about next year - schedule a parent/community event - write vision and mission statements - compile data for the year

  4. Step Three:identify, locate, and purchaseresources Taking an inventory of what resources Faux Elementary already has is an essential step in the action plan to find out what is needed. Some items will obviously have a higher priority than others.   money for materials, supplies, and various expenses $ adequate, safe, and comfortable furniture  time to take care of essential library tasks, help the faculty, work with students, and meet with the administrator   small electronics like ipads, ipods, and ereaders large electronics like computers and t.v.’s a huge budget allotment for BOOKS

  5. Step Four:put together a team Faux Elementary will need a library that has an equally strong offensive and defense These means identifying the right people to involve and share responsibility with. All members of the team are equal stakeholders in the success of the library media center. STUDENTS COMMUNITY RESPONSIBILITY DECREASES PARENTS FACULTY ADMINISTRATOR LIBRARIAN

  6. Step Five:determine the destination The library media center needs to have a clear course and destination. Simple questions determine whether or not the ship was steered in the desired direction, and collected data is used to get the answers. ? were circulation numbers up was there in increase in student/faculty library usage did teacher/librarian collaboration take place is the library media center a comfortable enjoyable space have vision and mission statements been written where did the budget numbers fall (above, at, or below) what aspects of the action plan weren’t achieved (if any) ? ? ? ? ? ?

  7. Step Six:pitch the product Visual campaigns work best when they are deployed in multiple ways. Displays, posters, and pictures can be posted digitally and physically to maximize exposure and increase the chances that the advertisements go viral. The empty wall space of Faux Elementary is prime real estate in the library media center’s agenda. Keep the posters simple, to the point, and hopefully somewhat entertaining.
