Warm-up, Monday 9/23Copy these vocabulary words: 1. ascetic (a se’ tik) A. leading a lifestyle of self-denial and restraint, especially for religious reasons The monk maintained an ascetic lifestyle, shunning all luxuries and excesses. 2. benighted (bi ni’ ted) A. ignorant or lacking insight The benighted idea that ethnicity determines intelligence has been empirically disproved. 3. desuetude (de' switüd) N. a state of disuse After months of desuetude, the car would not start; its battery was dead.
