  2. Our Admission Process Our goal is to build a diverse community of bright, mature, and highly motivated students who are a good match for our distinctive educational experience. Our students exhibit strong character, high ethical standards, and a commitment to involvement and being a positive influence in their community and the world. • Each year, we enroll: • 2,800 freshmen and 550 transfer students in the Fall • 500 new students in the Spring • Jan-Start Program • Freshman • Transfer • Admission is selective; the process is a personal one • Applicants must apply directly into a college and major • Open (undeclared) options available Curious about the Northeastern admissions process?   3. Applying to Northeastern Northeastern accepts the Common Application and required Northeastern Supplement found at www.commonapp.org. Simultaneous submission is required. • Official high-school transcript and/or college transcript • Secondary School Report and Teacher Evaluation • Portfolio (required for Music Technology and Studio Art; strongly recommended for Art + Design majors) • Test scores • Application fee • Recommendation forms and other materials available at www.commonapp.org Refer to www.northeastern.edu/admissionsfor a complete list of materials.

International Student Information • Students whose native language is not English must submit one of the following: • SAT Critical Reading Score: 500+ • TOEFL: Internet-based – 79-80,Paper – 550, Computerized – 213 • IELTS: 6.5 or better • Additional Required Materials: • National Exam results as applicable • International supplement to the Secondary School Report (freshmen applicants) • Declaration of Finances Form • Certified English translations of all transcripts and documents • If attending a U.S.-based secondary school or a student athlete, SAT or ACT scores are required • Copy of current I-20 form (if applicable) • Transfer Notification for F-1 Visa Holders (applicable if students are currently studying in the U.S.) www.northeastern.edu/admissions

Application Decisions • Merit scholarships are awarded to both Early Action and Regular Decision admits; review is done as part of the application process and notification is at the time of admission • Admission into the University Honors Program is by invitation only. Transfer Student Information We do not accept transfer applications for: Undeclared, Pharmacy, Health Science, Nursing, and Physical Therapy We do not accept transfer applications for January enrollment for Studio Art, Architecture, and Music Technology • Transfer Admitted Student Profile • Average GPA: 3.38 • Other required application materials • Official college transcripts • List of current and anticipated courses • Recommendation from professors, academic advisors, or employers • College Official’s Report (www.commonapp.org) www.northeastern.edu/admissions

Cost and Financial Aid • 2010–2011 Freshmen Cost • Tuition $36,380 • Room and Board $12,130 • Applicable Fees $762 • More than $130 million awarded in Northeastern scholarships and grants, including more than 100 full-tuition scholarships awarded to entering freshmen • Prestigious National Merit, National Achievement,and Trustee Scholarshipsawarded annually • Northeastern Pledge– eight semester guarantee of funds www.northeastern.edu/financialaid

  12. Application Calendar February 15 Freshmen applicants priority filing date for need-based financial aid (FAFSA and CSS PROFILE). March 31 Regular Decision notification. If admitted, students will receive a financial aid award. May 1 Tuition and housing deposits due; secures financial aid award. Transfer applicants priority filing date for need-based financial aid (FAFSA and CSS PROFILE). November 1 Early Action deadline. December 1 Early Action applicants are encouraged to submit CSS PROFILE. December 31 Early Action decision notification. If admitted, students will receive a preliminary financial aid award.
