  2. JUNK MAIL USPS Definition of Standard Mail Standard Mail is a class of mail that weighs less than 16 ounces and consists of presorted, discounted rate offerings. Each mailing must consist of at least 200 pieces or 50 pounds of individually addressed pieces. There is no Standard Mail single-piece rate. Standard Mail comprises the subclasses of Regular Standard Mail, Enhanced Carrier Route Standard Mail and Nonprofit Standard Mail. Any mailable matter may be sent as Standard Mail except matter required to be sent as First-Class Mail or copies of publications authorized to be entered at qualifying Periodicals rates.
