  2. Levi Strauss was born in Buttenheim, Germany on February 26, 1829.

  3. The family decided to open a West Coast branch of the family dry goods business in San Francisco, which was the commercial hub of the California Gold Rush.

  4. Working as a canvas salesman in San Francisco during the California Gold rush of the 1850s, LeviStrauss made a keen observation. He noticed that pants of prospectors and miners were not durable. So he improved them with the blue jeans.

  5. Levi Strauss died on September 26, 1902 in San Francisco at the age of 73. Once the work wear of cowboys and miners blue jeans are today worn by people of all walks of life, at work and play.
