  3. Unheated Yeast Cells & Congo Red Congo red is a red dye used to stain cells. Notice that the yeast cells are still clear even though they are in the red dye. 400X

  4. Heated Yeast Cells & Congo Red The yeast cells and Congo red were heated. Notice that now the dye has penetrated the cell membrane and has dyed the entire cell red. 400X
