  2. Preliminaries • Pre-class (10 classwork points): in your notebooks, answer the following questions: • What is a spreadsheet? Reference the word in the dictionary of http://www.dictionary.com. • Name at least 10 possible uses for spreadsheets.

  3. Excel Basics • Log in. • Launch Excel. • Common Interface Controls: • Menus • Toolbars • Spreadsheet basics: • Rows (numbered horizontally) • Columns (lettered vertically) • Addresses (row and column intersections)

  4. Focus Lesson: Data Lists • Data Entry • Basic Formatting • Font changes • Boldfacing • File Basics • Saving • Closing • Opening • Exiting

  5. Focus Lesson: Data Lists • Begin entering the Product IDs, names and prices in the corresponding columns as listed on the practice file handout. When complete, your spreadsheet should look the same as the handout except for the formatting. • When you’ve completed the data entry, save your work.

  6. Exit Ticket: Spreadsheets • In a Word document or in your notebooks, write at least 3 words or phrases explaining a situation in business where you might need to include an Excel document within a Word document.
