About the Institute of International Education (IIE) • Administers the Fulbright Fellowships on behalf of the U.S. Department of State & 200 other programs including Global Engineering Education Exchange (Global E3) and the Whitaker Int’l Program. • Serves 18,000 students, teachers, scholars, and professionals in 175 countries annually • Runs the IIENetwork: a global resource for 4,500 professionals at 1,100 member colleges & universities • Collects and disseminates data on international student mobility via Open Doors and Project Atlas

Global Engineering Education Exchange (Global E3)Program Overview • Global E3: : Global Engineering Education Exchange • Coordinates academic exchanges (study abroad) of mostly undergraduate engineering students from universities worldwide • Students can spend up to one year in host country • Tuition-Swap: Student pays tuition at home university, not to host • History/Impact • Approximately 250 engineering students study abroad annually through Global E³ • Over 3,000 engineering students gained international experience through Global E³ since its inception in 1995 • Global Presence • 65 member universities in 20 countries in Europe, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, Australia, and the U.S.

Global Engineering Education Exchange (Global E3)Program Benefits • Centralized Administration (provided by IIE) • Eliminates the need to manage, while not precluding, multiple bilateral agreements with overseas universities (many members concurrently and successfully operate bilaterals) • Provides more options for students to study in countries or fields which existing bilateral agreements may not accommodate • Access, through single agreement with IIE, to dozens of universities • Cost Savings • Consortium members offer "tuition exchanges" where students pay tuition to their home campuses, and not to the host universities overseas • Reduces administrative cost of managing multiple MOUs and bilateral exchanges • Unlimited number of students exchanged under one fee
