  1. May 15th, 2012

  2. 1st Period Chemistry I • Starter: get out exam review packet, book and #2 pencil • Turn in book and review packet • Semester exam: good luck!  • Turn in extra point cards no later than tomorrow

  3. Chem I Semester exam review • 7.2 Covalent Bonding • Ch. 8 Molecular Shape • Ch. 9 Chemical Reactions • Reaction Rates • Ch. 11 Stoichiometry • Ch. 12 Heat in Chemical Reactions (no test given on this one)

  4. Chem 1 topics for written portion of final • Write balanced equations. • Name covalent compounds. • Distinguish types of reactions. • Calculate between mass, moles and particles (atoms, molecules or formula units) of a given substance. • Use stoichiometry to calculate from mass of one chemical to the mass of another. • Calculate limiting reactant. • Calculate percent yield. • Calculate empirical and molecular formulas. • Use Hess’ Law to calculate enthalpy of a reaction. • Calculate enthalpy or a reaction using calorimetry. • Draw covalent structures, giving names of shapes, bond angles and polarity diagrams.

  5. Advanced Physics • Starter: complete in your notes • In the Olympic event known as the hammer throw, the 7.3 kg hammer is attached to 121.5 cm wire. If the hammer is swung in a horizontal circle, making one revolution in 0.99 s, what is the tension force exerted on the hammer by the wire? • Mars has a mass of 6.4185 × 1023 kg. Phobos, one of its moons, has a mass of 1.072 × 1016 kg. The distance between the centers of each is 9377 km. What is the gravitational force between the two celestial objects?

  6. Advanced Physics, cont. • SMQ • Go over starter 8.2 Pract. Prob. (5-8) –grade • Semester exam: tomorrow- must turn in test packet • B/G or SoM extra point cards due tomorrow

  7. Adv Phy SE review units • 6, part III Forces • Ch. 7 Equilibrium and Horizontal Motion • Ch. 7 Projectile Motion at an Angle • 7.3 Centripetal Motion • 8.1 Universal Gravitation (not returned yet) • 8.2 Using Universal Gravitation (no exam)

  8. Conceptual Physics • Starter: get out test review packet, book and #2 pencil • Collect packets and books • Semester exam: good luck!  • B/G and SOM extra points due Wednesday

  9. 4th Period Chemistry I • Starter: get out exam review packet; complete in your notespg. 408 (41 and 43) • Exam review – topics of your choice • Semester exam: Wednesday – must turn in test packet that day • Turn in extra point cards and books by tomorrow

  10. AP Chemistry • Starter: • Continue research for nuclear science project – may do either a research based feature article (see me for rubric) or project board for final project grade • Research project due by the end of the day Wednesday

  11. Astronomy • Starter: get out Contact logs • See semester exam grades • SW/APOD – do not have to record • Continue “Contact” • Turn in extra point cards no later than tomorrow
