  2. The enemy, the Devil, seeks to rob God of glory by leading men and women ON A PATHWAY OF REBELLION.

  3. Ephesians 2:1,2.... “ (v.1) As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, (v.2) in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.” (NIV)

  4. Let us listen to what Paul says about the nature of SPIRITUAL WARFARE!

  5. MAIN POINTS 1. Our "ADVERSARY" In Warfare

  6. Ephesians 6:10-13.... Read What are the devil’s schemes in this world?

  7. A. Satan's Scheme For UNBELIEVERS

  8. 1) He BLINDS THE MINDS of unbelievers 2 Corinthians 4:4…. “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” (NIV)

  9. 2) He SNATCHES AWAY the Word of God Matthew 13:19…. “When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is the seed sown along the path.” (NIV)

  10. 3) He SETS TRAPS for the unwary so that they oppose the Lord's servants

  11. 2 Timothy 2:24-26…. “ (v.24) And the Lord's servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. (v.25) Those who oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge .…

  12. 2 Timothy 2:24-26…. …. of the truth, (v.26) and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.” (NIV)

  13. 4) He MASQUERADES AS AN ANGEL OF LIGHT to deceive men and women

  14. 2 Corinthians 11:13,14…. “ (v.13) For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ. (v.14) And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.” (NIV)

  15. B. Satan's Scheme For BELIEVERS

  16. 1) He FILLS OUR HEARTS TO LIE Acts 5:1-6…. The story of Ananias and Sapphira ….

  17. 2) He HINDERS THE SERVANTS OF GOD from doing His work 1 Thessalonians 2:18…. “For we wanted to come to you – certainly I, Paul, did, again and again – but Satan stopped us.” (NIV)

  18. 3) He DESTROYS THE UNITY OF THE CHURCH by creating discord Ephesians 4 verses 1-6, 26, 27….

  19. 4) He LEADS THE WORLD TO PERSECUTE The Church

  20. Revelation 2:10…. “Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life.” (NIV)

  21. The Devil can only be overcome by COMPLETE RELIANCE upon the power of God!

  22. 2. Our "ARMOR" In Warfare Ephesians 6:13-17

  23. For this great “SPIRITUAL CONFLICT” – God loans us “HIS ARMOR.” Isaiah 59:17

  24. A. The Belt Of Truth Ephesians 6:14a TRUTH the Gospel of Truth, the quality of TRUTHFULNESS in our life with Christ, how we relate to each other in Christ Jesus.

  25. Ephesians 4:25.... “Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body.” (NIV)

  26. B. The Breastplate Of Righteousness Ephesians 6:14b 2 Corinthians 5:21.... “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we mightbecome the righteousness of God.”(NIV)

  27. DOING THE RIGHT THING in all our dealings! Ephesians 4:24.... “And to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” (NIV)

  28. By putting on the Breastplate of Righteousness we would not be easily wounded emotionally by people's actions, doings, attitudes or words.

  29. C. Feet Fitted With The Gospel Of Peace Ephesians 6:15 The “MESSAGE” of the Gospel is always to reconciled the world to “peace with God.”

  30. Ephesians 2:17-19…. “ (v.17) He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. (v.18) For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. …

  31. Ephesians 2:17-19…. …. (v.19) Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household.” (NIV) 2 Corinthians 5:17-20

  32. D. The Shield Of Faith Ephesians 6:16 FAITH is the “impregnable shield” that extinguishes all of the flaming arrows of the Evil One.

  33. Revelation 12:10…. “Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: ‘Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.” (NIV; cf. Hebrews 11:1,6)

  34. E. The Helmet Of Salvation Ephesians 6:17a Refers to…. "A PERSON'S WILL" … also symbolizes “the MIND” which needs protection.

  35. F. The Sword Of The Spirit Ephesians 6:17b

  36. The “WORD OF GOD” not only exposes him, the Word also tells the devil about his future.

  37. 3. Our "ACTIVITY" In Warfare Ephesians 6:18-20

  38. The PROPER ATTITUDE in battle is just as important as the proper equipment. PRAYER & ALERTNESS!

  39. PRAYER must be “in the Spirit” or “in the realmof the Holy Spirit” in order to be effective!

  40. It speaks of the necessary of always being in an attitude of prayer, of having a consistent prayer life. “BE ALERT”“agrupnountes” translated literally means “to be awaken or watching.”

  41. A. This Prayer Is To Be UNCEASING

  42. 1 Thessalonians 5:17.... “Be unceasing (continuously) in prayer (praying perseveringly).” [Amplified Bible] Message Bible… "Pray all the time!"

  43. B. This Prayer Is To Be DONE IN THE SPIRIT "The Spirit of God interceding for us!"

  44. Romans 8:26.... “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.” (NIV)

  45. C. This Prayer Is To Be FOR ALL THE SAINTS

  46. What should we pray for? That we will.... Not be unaware of the Devil’s schemes. Put on the armor of God so that we can stand firm. Be bold in our witness to others.

  47. CONCLUSION The devil will firstly, try to attack us from without the church, and if he failed, he will do so from within. So, always be on the alert! Why?

  48. 1 Thessalonians 5:17.... “(v.8) Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. (v.9) Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.” (NIV)
