  3. Setting • What is the setting of “Rikki-Tikki Tavi?” • The setting is in India during the late 1800s. The story takes place in a bungalow during the summer. Parts of the story happen in the garden.

  5. Theme • The theme of this story is bravery and courage. • Other themes are loyalty and duty. • Discuss how the themes give meaning to the story about Rikki-Tikki.

  6. What is Anthropomorphism? • Anthropomorphism is the application of human characteristics to non-humans, such as animals, plants, and objects. The animal characters in "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi" all are characterized by distinct, human-like personalities. • Complete the worksheet on anthropomorphism. • Answer the questions about “Rikki-TikkiTavi” on the back. • The worksheet should be hole-punched and placed in the CW/HW section of the notebook.

(exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution) • The short story is due Sept. 12th. • It is worth 25 points. • If the student illustrates the short story, an extra 15 points may be earned.
