  2. Note Observations Be specific - include room number and location i.e…cabinets, hoods, bench top, freezers……. describe the observation- i.e. food in sample refrigerator, waste container on center bench not labeled. Solvent bottle uncapped and left oopen, - If your not sure, write it down.

  3. Basics • No open toed shoes • No food or drink in the lab or eating in the lab. • No food in sample only refrigerators and freezers. • No trip hazards on the floor. (extension cords, boxes,…)

  4. Contd…. • All waste containers are labeled. • All satellite accumulation area labeled. • All reagents and containers are labeled. (ie..expiration date, initials, name of solution) • Bookshelves and cabinets 6ft or higher must be attached to the wall. • Posted reagent inventory Current (within 1 year) • Compatible chemicals stored together. • Hoods being used for solvent cabinets.

  5. Storage Compatibility • Check to make sure chemicals are stored with proper chemicals. Refer to compatibility sheet. • Hoods are not chemical storage cabinets. Note excessive chemical storage in and under hoods. 6-8 gal minimum under hoods. • Reagent cabinets located beside the hood should be limited to small reagent containers • Outdated chemicals- note room location for lab pack
