  3. 50% 1. 2005-2008 Strategy TARGETS: ACHIEVED Target PESV Spain 2003-2008. Reduction of 43% in the number of fatalities 40% achieved European target. Spain has reduced in 53%* the number of fatalities between 2001 and 2009. If data is confirmed, in 2009 the European target of 50% would have been achieved. *provisional data -3-

  8. 1. 2005-2008 Strategy THE GREAT ACHIEVEMENT: BEHAVIOUR CHANGE OF USERS • RESULTS • ACTIONS Alcohol and driving More Control: the number of controls has doubled in 5 years Positives in random alcohol controls: Promotion of the figure of passive drinker and alternate designated drivers 4,2% Promotion of non-alcoholic beer: 14% of consumption is non-alcoholic 1,8% Seat belt and helmet Special operations of vigilance and control Seat belt use has increased 10 points since the Penalty point license system has been implemented: 95% use 2 per year, 15 days per year Plan VIVE: new vehicle with acoustic alert for seat belt use in driver and companion 99% of users of PTW wore helmet. -8-

  9. 1. 2005-2008 Strategy THE GREAT ACHIEVEMENT: BEHAVIOUR CHANGE OF USERS • ACTIONS • RESULTS Speed Installation of fixed radars Decrease in average speed between 3 and 4 km/h according to different road types Detected vehicles by radars (more than 140 km/h) 6,8% Objective: 200 radars per year 0,8% Recidivists The 1st of July of 2006 the penalty points license is introduced 17.000 licenses withdrawn/year Speed -> 42% Alcohol -> 14% Seat belt -> 8% Mobile phone -> 8% -9-

  11. 2. New strategy 2010-2020 VISIÓN & TARGETS INTEGRAL VISION Citizens have the right to a Safe Mobility System, in which, citizens and social agents each have their duty. STRATEGIC TARGET • In 2020 35% reduction of fatalities and serious injuries in traffic accidents • One thousand less fatalities in traffic accidents per year in 2020

New strategy 2010-2020 11 TARGETS FOR MONITORING THE STRATEGY CHILDREN Zero fatalities without the child restraint system YOUNG PEOPLE 25% less killed and seriously injured on weekends ELDERLY 10% reduction in the number of killed drivers above 65 years of age CYCLISTS 1.000.000 more cyclists without increase in fatality rate URBAN AREAS 30% reduction of fatalities Zero fatalities in private cars

New strategy 2010-2020 11 TARGETS FOR MONITORING THE STRATEGY MOTORCYCLES 20% reduction in killed and seriously injured motorcycle riders CONVENTIONAL ROADS 30% fewer deaths in conventional roads ROAD SAFETY AT WORK 30% fewer deaths in accidents “in itinere" ALCOHOL Decrease in 1% in positives for alcohol SPEED Decrease in 0.4% in vehicles that exceed 140 km / h
