  1. A Career in Commerce - Planning for Next 20 Years The traditional scenario in which people would stick to one career throughout their life is becoming increasingly obsolete. Well, there are several aspects to building a long-term career. And fortunately, the commerce stream has several career options for individuals. Read on to know about the considerations to keep in mind for effective career planning- Aptitude Some individuals have a natural flair for a particular subject, an activity, or a field. For example, some people may have an aptitude for solving maths questions while others could be more proficient in accounting or other skills. Quantitative Aptitude, Verbal Aptitude, Reasoning Aptitude can be checked up by taking up tests organized at the state and national levels. But for more structured feedback, one can enroll in one of the top commerce colleges in Hyderabad. The faculty at these institutes can help guide you in finding the right career option according to your interests and skills. Interests What is it that interests you? Again, one has to understand this in the context of two areas – academics and others. Despite putting lots of effort into one subject, the candidate may fail to score good marks whereas they may manage a good percentage in other subjects of their choice without putting much effort. Why? The major reason is that they have more interest in that particular field. Just think how we rush through the glamour news in the morning newspaper while editorials are barely touched. Here we have to pause and analyze what interests us? The answer to this question will largely determine your career choice. Personality It is a very complex issue term. Individuals fall into two categories: extrovert and introvert. Some individuals have both traits. When making a career choice, the candidates should determine whether they are strong, polite, outgoing, etc. Some individuals are workaholics, while others like to work at a slower pace. Matching occupational requirements with personality characteristics is a very important part of career building in the long term. Ability Lastly, we should see what a person values. Some people value money, some glamour, some others power, some want time for themselves, etc. No one career can fulfill all your expectations. So you should set your priorities and then choose the stream accordingly. You need to understand that there are countless career options in the field of commerce. So, you

But several students don’t understand the avenues clearly and choose their career option based on advice given by friends. Of course, it is very difficult to understand ourselves; this is where ‘others’ come in. There is nothing wrong with taking the help of a professional counselor, friends, parents, or teachers when planning your career, but the final decision should be yours. So make your choice wisely.
