The association Athens Association of Alzheimer’s Disease is a non-profit organisation that was founded in 2002 by dementia patients’ relatives, doctors, psychologists and other health professionals that are interested in Alzheimer’s disease. The association aims at: • promoting awareness • understanding and providing support for everyone that is related to the disease. Nowadays the association has 1500 members .

  3. Campaigns • for promoting awareness (Worldwide Alzheimer’s Day- 21st of September. 2010)

  7. Greek Carers:Who does the older person live with • 98.7% of dependent elderly are cared for at home • 50.7% of family carers are living with the person they cared for • 80.9% of carers are women • 47.2% of family carers are still working • Mean age of carers: 51.7 years EUROFAMCARE, 2006
