  2. Big6 Review • Open your envelopes and take out the white set of cards. • In your groups, put the steps of the Big6 research model in order. 3.Take out the greet set of cards and work together to match the research tasks with the steps on the white cards.

Find required information in books and on Internet. Use graphic organizers and note cards to take notes from sources. Create and present project. Judge my use of the Big6. Big6 Answers

Greek Gods/Goddesses PowerPoint Requirements • Choose a god or goddess. • Find the following information: • Greek name • Roman name • What he/she represents • Picture of god/goddess • Its background or accent (any identifying features, symbols, mascots, etc.) • Story involving your chosen god/goddess with picture to accompany • Bibliography slide

  5. Step 2 - Information Seeking Strategies • Create research questions based on the information you are looking for. • Example - Does The Greek God Cronus have a mascot? • Example - What symbol is used to represent the Greek Goddess Aphrodite?

  6. Step 2 - Information Seeking Strategies • Identify key vocabulary within your question. • Example - Does The Greek GodCronus have a mascot? • Example - What symbol is used to represent the Greek GoddessAphrodite?

  7. Step 2 - Information Seeking Strategies • Identify various synonyms, terms, or phrases associated with your key vocabulary. • Example - What symbol is used to represent the Greek GoddessAphrodite?

Step 2 - Information Seeking Strategies • Plan your searches using Boolean Search tools. • Choose keywords to use. • AND - use when you want your search to include both chosen terms. • Aphrodite AND emblem. • OR - use when you want your search to include either term. • Aphrodite OR Venus AND emblem • NOT - use when you want to exclude a term from your search. • Venus AND emblem NOT planet.

  9. Step 3 - Location & Access • Where can I find the information I need? • NCMS library catalog (Don’t count out books as resources) • WSSD online databases • Internet search engines • Others?

  10. Step 3 - Location & Access • Use the Boolean searches you created to find the answers to your research questions. • When you find valuable, reliable sources, don’t forget to add them to your bibliography. • See Miss Schin for assistance if you cannot remember how to do this.
