  3. beginning OF THE NOVEL • Setting the Scene ‘ “Did you ever remark that door?’ he asked and when his companion had replied in the affirmative, ‘It is connected in my mind to a very odd story’ • ‘And all as empty as a church’ ‘Got into that state of mind where a man listens and listens and longs for the sight of a policeman’ • ‘The Man trampled calmly over the child’s body and left her screaming on the ground’

  4. Middle Of The Novel • Who is Mr. Hyde?- Lanyon: ‘Hyde? Repeated Lanyon. ‘No never heard of him since my time’ • ‘But not all of these together could explain the the hitherto unknown disgust, loathing and fear with which Mr. Utterson regarded him’
