  2. Research and product development The iphones first idea was thought up as when steve jobs wanted to make a multi touch touchscreen device. Such as a tablet pc. Steve jobs wanted this phone to be able to work with the internet without a mouse and an actual keyboard. After he got a group of apple engineers they decided it would be a good idea to imply this technology to a phone This project started in 2005 and was known as the project purple 2. Apple secretively worked with cingular wireless now known as AT&T. Cingular gave apple the rights to make the phone how they wanted to. This project lasted a 30 month period and cost 150 million dollars.

  3. DESIGN The design of the phone was made to have a computer in your pocket. The size of the phone was 3.5 inches with a glass multi-touch screen. 320-480 pixels The phone had a chrome plated metal frame which made it durable. The back of the phone was aluminum with a plastic base to get the cellular and wifi signals. There are only 5 physical buttons on the phone which has stayed true to all models. The first iPhone ran on the OS X software created by apple.

  4. MARKETING The iPhone targets consumers who need to store information and communicate or people who want entertainment on the go. Apples target segments consist of professionals, students, corporate users, and entrepreneurs. At the beginning the smart phone market was relatively small compared with the general phone market. The market rapidly increased in coming years due to lower prices and greater power.

  5. MANUFACTORING Most people think apple is the manufacture of the first iphone but it is not. The iphone was manufactured by over 10,000 people, over 30 companies, in 3 different continents. The diversity of creators and ideas made the iphone for everyone. The overall final manufacture is foxconn they fully assembled it and sent it to U.S.
