Acts 27:27 ,Paul (1) • Paul’s witness during the shipwreck • Destination: Italy • Purpose: delivery of Paul • Julius :a centurion of the AugustanRegimen • Name of the ship:Adramyttuim • The projected course: the coasts of Asia,Sidon,shelter of Cypres,Cicilia, Pamphylia,Myra (city of Lycia) • Change of the ship to Alexandrian ship to Italy • Cnidus,,,strong winds

Predict the disaster , loss of cargos, ship and lives and warning against sail • Centurion: not listen to Paul but yielded to helmsman and owner of the ship • The majority opinion; sail to Phoenix (Harbor of Crete)

Acts 27:27 ,Paul (3) • Day 14 • At Midnight the sailor sensed that they are drawing near the some land • Midnight : salvation, life not death,(+) • Sailors : attempt to escape from the ship! • Paul’s word:" Unless you stay in the ship, you can not be saved” • The soldier cut the rope of the skiff (no way of escape, no other alternative)

Acts 27:27 ,Paul (4) • Day 14 th: Paul’s instruction and recommendation to his fellow soldiers, prisoners and others; take nourishment (eat) for this is for your survival • Paul gave thanks to God in the presence of all and ate the bread under the difficult circumstances (shipwreck) • The total number of persons on board=276 • All ate and encouraged

  19. Acts 27:27 ,Paul (5) • After the meal and threw away the foods (cargo) into the sea to lighten the ship • Fatal shipwreck near the land • Everyone (100 %) got to the island safely either by boards or swimming • 100 % survival as Paul’s prediction

Take home Point • Survival requires action. • By boards= hanging onto things floating or floatable= piggy bag or join in or cash into something dependable, something reliable , something firm, something solid. Something stable. you are not in power. you are not in driving seat. you are not in charge. somebody else in charge of your life. • By swimming= you do your part, own effort, use up all available skills and resources

  24. How many days for spring feast ? • Answer = 52 days from pass over to Pentecost • How many days for fall feast ? • answer= 22 days from trumpet to tabernacle, 30 days short !

  26. Spring feast is supposed to be the same as fall feast in meaning . • There is a discrepancy between the days of spring feast duration and days of fall feast duration ( 52 days vs. 22 days ) • How do we reconcile the difference?

  35. Uncleanness = defilement =dirtiness =not holy= unholy= not sacred= not suitable for worship, not fit for worship, =need to be cleaned up or cleansed or washed prior to appearing before the God out of respect and reverence.

  36. Far away journey= a long distance journey from Jerusalem= make a preparation or arrangement to come back toward Jerusalem= focus of attention and action on Jerusalem= preparation time , arrangement time, planning time, make up time ,“ make up examination “,

In case of family disaster or illness, or emergency, you miss the real examination. • But teacher gave you an opportunity to take “ make up examination “ later than other students so that you can pass the test and pass the course. • Real purpose of “ make up examination”=let you pass the test and go onto the next course. • The name of game = passing the test, not failing the test

The consciousness and awareness of the Christ’s second coming will produce: • Self examination of my life’s priority • Reorganization of life’s priorities • Get ready for myself and let others ready for Christ’s second coming as well so that I and others do not miss the chance to meet Jesus and have a “passport “ to get into Heaven with Jesus when the time comes.
