SLASH FILM STRENGTHS • Blog recognitions at the top to show credentials. • At bottom, blog leads you to “cool posts” from other sites related to film. • Connected to Twitter & Facebook (link icons every page). • Writing contributors listed on every page. • Easy navigation tabs at top. • Offers other medium suggestions related to movies. • Art, Books, Toys, Gear etc.

  3. Slash Film Weaknesses • Audio commentary not updated(2009 last entry). • Mediocre design- Doesn’t have film aesthetic. • Clutter- Too many flash ads next to each other • Movie release schedule tab, but not available yet. • Live broadcasts are set to private. • No original videos available to watch.

  4. Slash Film Opportunities • Producing original videos for blog to appeal to visual learners and have wider variety of mediums. • Film site should have more video. • More exciting blog design to keep people engaged & inspire to explore. • Make live broadcasts open to public so it isn’t cutting off opportunities to connect with audience. • Needs section for public feedback on movies to make more interactive.

  5. First showing strengths • Recurring podcast show called “The Golden Briefcase.” • Home page is an “about us” and has list of contributing writers to know identity of site. • Easy to navigate movie release schedule. • Connected to Twitter & Facebook. • Unique sections: movie posters & short films.

  6. First showing weaknesses • Cluttered with ads-overload of information. • In trailer section, video doesn’t play when you click on the play button of the photo still. • Apps section tab doesn’t open.

  7. First showing Opportunities • Make own videos to appeal to visual audience. • Create cleaner design on right, so there is no clutter to distract. • Makes apps section available to encourage the audience to connect to site in other ways. • Create section for public feedback to be more interactive.

  8. Threats to Both • Hollywood.com • Video interviews • Trending stories • Photo & celeb section • Cleaner design • Fandango isn’t a blog, but is a significant threat • Has public feedback on movies • Has media & acclaimed critic feedback
