  1. Australia G’day! In our project we will present the geography of Australia, some historical information, natural features, wildlife and a Fact File. We hope you enjoy our project!

  2. History Around 40,000 years ago the Aborigines lived in Australia. Aborigines still live in Australia today. The Aborigines have their own flag. When white people came to Australiathey forced the Aborigines to be their slaves. During the eighteenth century people in Ireland and England were deported over to Australia for committing crimes. In 1851 gold was discovered.

Australian Flag: White means: Peace and Honesty Blue means: vigilance, truth, loyalty perseverance and justice Red means: hardness, strength and valour 6 stars on the flag One 7 point star which represents the federation of the colonies in 1901 in Australia Aboriginal Flag: Black represents aboriginal people Yellow represents the sun Red represents the red earth

  4. Geography: Worlds Smallest Continent Capital is Canberra 6 states and 3 territories including Tasmania Longest River: River Darling Highest Mountain: Mt. Kosciuszko Known As: Land Down Under More than 24 million people live here Located in southern hemisphere Only country that is a continent 1/3 desert More than 100 times bigger than Ireland

  9. Conclusion We hope you enjoyed our project about Australia. We gathered our information from books and websites. Maia typed the history of Australia, Katie typed the geography section, Jade typed Natural Features, Sarah typed the Wildlife section, and Dayla typed the Fact File. We all wrote about the Australian Flag and the Introduction!
