  1. HIP Mobile Router Petri Jokela Demo team - All Stars: Patrik Salmela, Jan Melén Ericsson Research, NomadicLab 9.10.2007

  2. Internet AR MR Moving Network MN HIP Mobile Router • HIP Mobile Router (MR) • Supports mobile HIP hosts • MR hides the network mobility from MR’s clients • Private address space • Heterogeneous networks • e.g. LAN, WLAN, 3G • IPv4, IPv6 • MR can connect IPv4 networks to IPv6 networks AR

  3. HIP Mobile Router • Service discovery • I1 and UPD SEQ trigger registration exchange • On-path discovery – passive mode • Signaling delegation • Delegation between HITs • MNs register at MR, delegate signaling rights • MR sends location updates on behalf of MNs • Certificate-based authorization & authentication • MR SIMA based on HITs • Not possible to base on protocol/port, only ESP packets • E.g. HIT <A> prefers to use 3G access

  4. Update, including new unsigned locator (MR’s IP address) R1 / UPD (SEQ ACK) I1 / UPD (SEQ) ESP packets R2 I2 / UPD (ACK) Private address space Internet HIP MR - state establishment Plain I1, source address changed Service Registration, including certificate transfer MN HIP Mobile Router CN I2, including new locator (MR’s IP address) R1’ (+ REG_INFO) IN PARALLELL I2’ (+ REG_REQ + certificate) R2’ (+ REG_RESP)

  5. UPD (SEQ + certificate) UPD (SEQ ACK) UPD (ACK) ESP packets ESP packets Private address space Internet HIP MR - location update MN HIP Mobile Router CN MR IP: A Handoff MN IP: C MR IP: B

  6. Internet AR MR Authorization MN HIP MR • Signaling delegation to minimize signaling • MN delegates to MR • MR can further delegate signaling to a signaling proxy • Only one location update from MR Signalling proxy Delegation Register all known HITs

  7. HIP Mobile RouterCurrent Demo Activities • NATO: Lecture Series IST-070 • Emerging Wireless Technologies • Helsinki, Finland (1.-2.10.2007) • Rennes, France (8.-9.10.2007) • Prague, Czech Republic (11.-12.10.2007) • ISCIT 2007, Sydney (16.-19.10.2007) • HIP Mobile Router demonstration TODAY

  8. HIP Mobile Router Demonstration • HIP-MR • Mobility for subnetworks • IPv4 / IPv6 • Supports HIP hosts • Simultaneous Multi-Access • WLAN, 3G
