  1. ENROLLMENT INFORMATION Students may enroll in classes by contacting local distributors, or by contacting the Training Center directly. If enrollment is by distributors, the students will be considered enrolled when the distributor’s purchase order is received. If the student contacts the Training Center directly, then enrollment is confirmed when tuition is received by check, money order, or credit card. The National Training Center will mail to each student a letter confirming the class. Cancellations must be made 3 weeks prior to class or tuition is forfeited. ICP also reserves the right to cancel classes 3 weeks prior to the 1st day of class for any reason. Tuition for the week long technical and train-the-trainer classes is $525. Tuition for the two day sales and business classes is $275. All other prices are listed in the detailed description. Checks and money orders should be payable to International Comfort Products Corporation (USA). Credit cards or distributor P.O.’s can fax the registration form to (615) 248-8959.   2. Air Conditioning / Heat Pump Classes INTRO TO HEAT / AIR AIR CONDITIONING ADVANCED AIR CONDITIONING FUNDAMENTALS This course is designed for entry-level HVAC personnel. The course provides an overview of air conditioning fundamentals and includes topics such as heat, heat transfer, load calcula- tions, duct design, equipment selection, airflow, AC system components & operation, the refrig- eration cycle, gas heat system components & op- eration, heat pump system components & opera- tion, and electrical basics. Students will spend the majority of class in lecture, with several lab exercises. TUITION $525 CLASS DATES: Oct. 28-Nov. 1, 02 / Mar. 24-28, 03 Aug. 4-8, 03 / Oct. 27-31, 03 This course is designed for experienced service technicians and provides an overview of a/c electrical & mechanical troubleshooting. Discussions will include pressure/temperature, mechanical refrigeration cycle, metering devices, superheat/sub-cooling, compression ratio, charging, schematics, diagnosing and correcting mechanical & electrical problems. The course will include class discussion, lab exercises and computer simulation programs to help the student learn to troubleshoot and repair system problems faster and more accurately. Prerequisite: A/C Fundamentals TUITION $525 CLASS DATES: Feb. 24-28, 03 Mar. 31-Apr. 4, 03 June 23-27, 03 This course is designed for both novice and ex- perienced service technicians. The course provides an overview of A/C fundamentals and includes topics such as heat transfer, refrigeration cycle, AC com- ponents, system installation, air flow, mechanical & electrical operation, proper charging, startup, re- covery, evacuation, and mechanical & electrical troubleshooting. Through the use of classroom dis- cussion, lab exercises and computer simulation pro- grams,the student will learn to diagnose common operating and mechanical problems. TUITION $525 CLASS DATES: Sept. 16 – 20, 02 / Mar. 10-14, 03 May 12-16,03 / Sept. 15-19, 03 RESIDENTIAL LOAD CALCULATION COMMERCIAL LOAD CALCULATION COMMERCIAL EQUIPMENT FUNDAMENTALS Commercial load calculations are more time consum-ing and difficult to perform than residential loads when manual methods are used. Factors such as internal heat sources, infiltration, ventilation, occup-ancy, lighting, etc. must be accurately calculated to properly size equipment. This class familiarizes the student with using the ACCA certified Right-Comm-Load software, which enables the user to perform accurate commercial load calculations for an un-limited number of zones and/or units in minutes. TUITION $225 CLASS DATES: Oct. 24-25, 02 / Jan. 9-10, 03 May 8-9, 03 / Oct. 23-24, 03 Manual methods of load calculation, duct design and cost comparisons are time consuming and difficult to perform. The “Right-Suite” software package enables the user to perform these procedures in just minutes. This class familiarizes the student with using the ACCA certified “Right-J” load calculation and “Right-D” duct design programs and the “Right-$” cost comparison program contained in the “Right-Suite” package. TUITION $425 CLASS DATES: Oct. 21-23, 02 / Jan. 6-8, 03 May 5-7, 03 / Oct. 20-22, 03 This course was designed for the service tech who wants a better understanding of Commercial equipment. Topics discussed will include refrigerant piping for split system products, airflow and blower selection, economizer opera-tion and set-up. Wiring diagrams will be used to under-stand the sequence of operation and electrical trouble-shooting procedures. Exercises in class and lab will help reinforce the student’s knowledge. Students should have a basic understanding of the fundamentals of A/C & Heating as well as basic electrical knowledge. TUITION $425 CLASS DATES: Oct. 21-23, 02 / Jan. 6-8, 03 May 5-7, 03 / Oct. 20-22, 03 HEAT PUMP FUNDAMENTALS HEAT PUMP ADVANCED This course is designed for experienced service technicians who have a working knowledge of heat pump fundamentals and operation. Dis-cussions include: sizing, airflow, reading schematics, superheat/sub-cooling, diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults, and planning the correct solutions. This course includes classroom discussion, lab exercises and computer simulation programs for the student who desires to professionally troubleshoot and repair heat pump problems faster and more accurately. Prerequisite: H.P. Fundamentals or equivalent. TUITION $525 CLASS DATES: Oct. 7-11, 02 / Feb. 10-14, 03 / June 2-6, 03 Aug. 11-15, 03 / Oct. 6-10, 03 This class covers the basic fundamentals of heat pump systems including what a heat pump is, operation, components, theory, installation practices and basic trouble-shooting. The students use live equipment in our technical lab to properly test the performance for all modes of heat pump operation. They will utilize the equipment lab for checking system pressures and temperatures, super heat, sub cooling, blower speeds and air flow.   3. Gas / Oil Furnace Classes GAS FURNACE FUNDAMENTALS This course is designed to provide an introduction to Gas Furnace Installation and Service. The course will cover: properties of fuel gases, principles of combustion, heat loss calculation, proper vent system sizing, requirements for combustion and ventilation air, proper gas pipe sizing, proper electrical connection considerations, principles of 80% and 90% gas furnaces, types of ignition systems, proper furnace startup procedures, service troubleshooting using wiring diagrams in class and lab situations. Written tests as well as lab exercises will be used to evaluate student performance. TUITION $ 525 CLASS DATES: Sept. 9-13, 02 / Nov. 4-8, 02 Jan. 13-17, 03 / Sept. 8-12, 03 / Nov. 3-7, 03 GAS FURNACE ADVANCED This course is designed to further enhance the knowledge of the technician. GF I should have been taken as a prerequisite. The students will learn proper duct sizing methods, airflow troubleshooting procedures, Two Stage heating operation, variable speed motor troubleshooting, identification or electrical components used in gas furnaces and their troubleshooting methods. Time will be spent on the operational characteristics of different ignition systems, their component parts, sequence of operation and trouble-shooting procedures. Written tests, lab exercises and computer simulation programs will be used to test and expand the technician’s skills. TUITION $ 525 CLASS DATES: Sept. 23-27, 02 / Nov. 18-22, 02 Jan. 20-24, 03 / Sept. 22-26, 03 / Nov. 17-21, 03 Other HVAC Classes ELECTRICAL DIAGRAMS The HVAC industry could not function without the electrical wiring diagram. From the concep-tion of the unit, through its design, manufacture, installation, operation, and service, the wiring diagram is a necessity. This class will cover the basics of electricity, the types of wiring dia-grams and their use, electrical symbols, and using wiring diagrams to understand system operation and troubleshooting. TUITION $ 425 CLASS DATES: April 7-9, 03 / Oct. 1-3, 03 COUNTER SERVICE A counter person must know HOW to sell. They also need to know WHAT to sell. This means understanding the language and needs of the HVACR customer. This class covers HVACR systems, components and operation for an in-depth understanding of the products used in the HVACR industry. Discussions will also cover part usage and possible substitution. TUITION $ 275 CLASS DATES: Dec. 11-12, 02 / Apr. 16-17, 03 Dec. 10-11, 03 ENVIROMAX – R410A RESIDENTIAL APPLICATION Today’s professional HVAC technician must under-stand the differences between R-410A and R-22. This class involves basic refrigeration theory, mech-anical refrigeration cycle, coils, diagnostics, charg-ing, piping and safety tips, all relating to R-410A. Understanding will assist the technician in properly troubleshooting the mechanical circuit of a system utilizing R-410A. TUITION $225 CLASS DATES: Sept. 30-Oct. 1,02 May 1 - 2, 03 / Sept. 29-30, 03 OIL FURNACE SERVICE If you are unfamiliar with the workings of an oil furnace or a gun type oil burner, or you need to know how to properly adjust and set one up, this course is for you. Students will become familiar with the combustion process in residential oil heating equipment. Students will learn the proper installation, startup, service, & trouble-shooting procedures. They will spend time in the equipment lab practicing combustion testing and adjustment procedures to improve the efficiency of the equipment. TUITION $ 525 CLASS DATES: Dec. 2-6, 02 / July 21-25, 03 / Dec. 1-5, 03 NATE CERTIFICATION It is the aim of every Service Technician to become skilled in his trade and to be able to show that skill. One way to demonstrate a high level of competency is to take the NATE Certification exams. It is the goal of the ICP Training Center to provide our students the opportunity to take this exam after completion of the various course sections that we offer. Exams will be available after completion of Gas Furnace I and II, A/C I and II and Heat Pump I and II for an additional fee.

A segment of the seminar also deals with helping your established dealers sell more, so you can sell them more!
