  2. What do we mean by “energy efficiency”? • Using less energy to perform the same amount of work • Conservation: Turning lights off when you leave a room • Efficiency: Using Compact Fluorescent Bulbs

  3. Why promote energy efficiency? Saves money • For hard-pressed governments by reducing operating costs • For residents by reducing gas and electric bills

  4. Why promote energy efficiency? Helps businesses • Reduce operating costs • More dollars spent locally

  5. Why promote energy efficiency? Creates jobs • In energy efficiency industry • For other businesses through increased consumer spending • Creates more jobs per $1 invested than average
