  9. Starting points • Generally, Technopark is the most effective model for new technologies development & commercialization. However, this model has high start-up & operational costs that leads to greater risks especially in transition economies.

  10. Objectives Considerable minimization of investment risks creates the opportunities for the companies: • To benefit by transfer of advanced technologies, which are developed in transition economies and unknown for science society of western countries • To get good opportunity for seizing the new markets for their technologies and products • To derive extra benefits from joined development of new technologies and products

  11. Joint projects - joint usage of equipment Project Coordinator Project Participant Project Participant

  12. Milestones of D-STEP concept development & discussion 2005«D-STEP» concept design by Armenian Technology Transfer Association) 2006-GLOBAL FORUM 2006, Paris FRANCE 2007- 2010 ISTC Conferences and Workshops 2008-ArmTech Congress, Yerevan ARMENIA 2009- ArmTech Congress, San Jose, CA, USA 2011- German-Armenian Business Forum, Karlsruhe Germany 2011- IncoNetEECA Workshop: Innovation in the wider Black Sea region, Athens GREECE 2012Workshop of State Committee of Science of Armenia

  13. D-STEP concept • The D-STEP is a Technopark “without walls”, where the physical common “roof” is replaced by a special management. • Technopark implements thorough 5-step filtering procedure of the pipeline projects. This procedure will be absolutely transparent for the investors of the Technopark's Financial Club - the stakeholders‘ representatives can join the experts at any step of this procedure.

  14. D-STEP concept • Because on each step the inapplicable and unmarketable projects will be filtered out, the operational costs will be minimal. • The engagement of local specialists on some stages of filtering procedure additionally will reduce the operational costs.

  15. 5-step filtering procedure Beneficiaries Filtering Projects portfolio Projects Human resources Scientific Financial Market Production

  16. Advantages of Center • No start-up costs • Minimum operating costs • High credence to the portfolio projects • Independent decision-making mechanism on investment • Synergy that is created from the joint projects, sharing of the equipment, opportunity to apply the solutions from the scientific centers of transition economies. and as a result Minimum risks High efficiency of investment
