  4. Application (proposed) Local Spatial Knowledge for urban community environmental risk management utilising VGI and Participatory GIS

Objectives A. analyse information and validation links between the main actors in urban community-level Environmental Risk Management: • local community (including NGOs); • scientific / technical experts and planners; and • responsible administrative bodies at local government and higher levels. • To evaluate the validity of the VGI and PGIS approach and methodology for urban ERM. evaluation at conceptual level, and through examining appropriate cases in urban communities in four countries.

  7. Objectives C. design, develop and test VGIRisk, a web-based GDI (Geospatial Data Infrastructure) for urban community-based ERM utilising VGI and PGIS to strengthen the information links between community volunteers and relevant municipal and NGO agencies. D. demonstrate value & credibility of approach for communities, politicians, local governments, and train local expertise in the DGI & PGIS methods in ERM
