COM inspections are set • to monitor the implementation of relevant EU legislation • to verify the effectiveness of: • - national maritime security quality control systems • - maritime security measures • - procedures and structures • to look at a suitable sample of authorities, RSOs, port facilities, ships and associated companies The goal is to improvemaritime security in Member States

  4. There are different inspections

  5. Types of COM inspections (1) • National administrations: • - General application of Reg 725 at national level • - General implementation of Dir 65 at national level

  6. Types of COM inspections (2) • Ports: • - Implementation of Dir 65 at port level • Port facilities: • - Application of Regulation 725 at PF level

  7. Types of COM inspections (3) • Ships: • - Application of Regulation 725 at ship level • - COM can follow Member States authorities

  8. Types of COM inspections (3) • Recognised Security Organisations: - To see how RSOs act on behalf of MS + Associated shipping companies
