  3. Theme Passage 1 Cor 8 6 yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, & we for Him; & one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, & through whom we live.

  4. 1) One Body…of Christ- Rom 12:5 Body 5 so we, being many, are one body in Christ, & individually members of one another

  5. Body Church is less an organization than it is a dynamic, living, breathing, extension of the life & ministry of Jesus…

  6. Luke 19 10 for the Son of Man has come to seek & to save that which was lost.

  7. John 10 10 The thief does not come except to steal, & to kill, & to destroy. I have come that they may have life, & that they may have it more abundantly.

  8. “The church is not an end, it is a means to an end—to accomplish the mission & purposes of Jesus”

  10. 1) One Body…of Christ- Rom 12:5 Body Am I first a “church member” or part of the Body of Christ?

  11. 2) One Body…Part of (but is not) the Kingdom of God- Luke 10:1, 9-11 Body 1 After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also…. 9 And heal the sick there, & say to them, 'The kingdom of God has come near to you.'

  14. Body The Kingdom of God is the full expression of God’s power, God’s rule & God’s work. While God can work through the church, His Kingdom is greater than us, our meetings & programs.

  18. 2) One Body…Part of (but is not) the Kingdom of God- Luke 10:1, 9-11 Body As a part of the Body of Christ, do I desire to see God’s Kingdom working here & now?

  19. 3) One Body… Led by the Spirit- I Cor 12:13 Body 13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body--whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free--& have all been made to drink into one Spirit.

  20. Body The Body of Christ is the only group of people on earth gathered by, empowered by and led by the Holy Spirit.
