  1. Top level: • Easy remote browsing, viewing, comparing, up to 3-d lead time, with easy access to archived data • Standardized meta data [SDO, Solar-B, absorbing/expanding existing sets] • AIA: (Start with) low-level products (images, PFSS, … but not DEM, NLFFFs, … until a consensus tool is ready)

  2. Data product/methods lists: • Largely agreement that the current baseline lists are adequate, but • Need for specialized on-demand computing to be flexibly inserted into the pipeline(s) • Evolve definition of pipeline and interfaces • Evaluate required computer resources after compilation of data products involved • Interest in co-aligned B&Coronal (difference) images • Need for deep-focusing pipeline methods/tools for tachocline studies • Testing of algorithms requires: • Artificial data: Forward-modeled CZ for helioseismic inversions, both local and global • Artificial data for thermal studies: comparison/development of methods, and spectal codes + line lists

  3. Desires with problems • Evolving global vector-B as input for wind modeling, … even though not clear how to use it • Better understanding of near-surface physics to estimate/model mode frequencies (asphericity, mode excitation, and near-surface shear).

  4. Working groups / meetings (I) • Hydrodynamic loop models (Warren, …) • Spectral modeling (Warren, Boerner, Weber, …) • Non-Linear Force-Free Field modeling consortium (Schrijver, Metcalf, …) • Comparison of global & local methods where they overlap [Rhodes, Haber, …] to cross-validate methods • [Continuation of] LOHCO helioseismology (ring, time-dist., holography) [Komm, Haber, …] • Horizontal flows, tracking [Welsh] • Synaptic map algorithms & intercomparisons [Hoeksema]

  5. Working groups / meetings (II) • Workshop on using modes, helioseismology, surface flows, inversion techniques for understanding the magnetic, energetic & dynamic connection between CZ (near surface) and the corona. [Abbett] • Event detection for coronal oscillations [De Pontieu, …] • Definition of optimal observing modes for transient studies [Nita, …] • Hare-hounds exercise for global mode-parameter estimation based on an artificial data set [Hill] • Forward model of CZ including fields/flows[Stein, Toomre, Kosovichev, Miesch, Mukunda…]

  6. Working groups / meetings (III) • EVE/AIA cross-calibration, including 2006 rocket flight TRACE/EIT/Solar-B-XRT [Boerner, Eparvier, …] • Farside-image acoustic/magnetic calibration [Lindsey] • Time-distance holography with emphasis on flows and propagation speeds [Braun, Birch] • Improve speed/reliability of vector-B inversions [???] • Improve speed/reliability of ambiguity resolution for azimuthal-B [???]

  7. Working groups / meetings (IV) • Definition teams: • Keywords for data structures (Larsen, …) • Documentation/tutorial on interfacing code for pipeline modules(Larsen) • Community: • Science Team meetings (2007, 2008, …) • Community workshops (LWS1/SOHO19 March 2007 [lws1.lmsal.com, or soho19.lmsal.com]; …)

  8. Resource needs • SDO supercomputer facility • SolarSoft continuation or development of alternative? • Heliospace+Geospace dynamics summary for solar/heliospheric/ geospace communities (LWS task) • Enhanced SR&T, TR&T, and SDO core science team funding in support of development of tools and methods for community

  9. AIA Operational modes: • Coronal oscillations: • Review 1600/1700/WL nesting • Potential with high-freq observing. • Transient studies: • High-freq observing needed to find/map conjugate footpoints for particle precipitation

  10. Coordination needs • Chromospheric field information (vector-B, H)

  11. Gurman: Most working ggroup leads are non-pi group members. How will they get funded. Should we explicitly estimate what the working group cost really is?
