WHAM Strategic Roadmap 2013+ Deliver the BEST overall experience in the market for women at all levels of hockey Mission Deliver a fun experience, efficient processes, opportunities to improve, and a sense of community and belonging for all the women in our organization Goals Focus Metrics Membership retention, growth, and overall member feedback Make it EASY! Branded Communication Division Focus Development Strategic Priorities • A Division Growth (A1 & new division A3) • Ensure priorities and interests of each division are identified and addressed • Focus on best solutions by skill level, not one size fits all • Annually assess membership needs and satisfaction, prioritize and incorporate into board initiatives & priorities • Assess new player potential and at all levels and market to that audience • Utilize monthly newsletter to reach all WHAM members! • Provide WHAM Summer and Spring programs for all levels • League play • Skills Clinics • Supplement expenses, continue to evaluate offerings and expenses • Efficient use of website • Streamlined scheduling • Support new teams • Simplify the assessment process, be consistent Gina

Board Focus 2013+ • Continued refinement of the assessment process – goal to be the exception vs. rule • Regularly scheduled communication • Added WHAM Communications Role • All WHAM members now receive newsletters • Increased awareness for non-members • Continue to promote WHAM supported events and WHAM apparel to reinforce our “brand” • Leverage WHAM Volunteers – over 120 indicated interest in Spring 2013 survey • Continue to gather member input via surveys • Expand Development Leagues – refine expense to support • Goalie Clinics • Off season league pick-up • Ensure levels are appropriate for those who sign up Gina

B Division Update • B3 division was a success! • Players that register this season are now officially B3 • If you are considering a move back to C1, please confirm with your commissioner and B-VP • Reminder: maximum of 3 secondary players per roster • Increased focus on competitive off season development for both B2 and B1 Beth

C Division Update • Introduction of C Commissioners (please stand!) • The C Division is now WHAM’s largest Division! • C3 is BACK! • New - College Division • Hockey 101 was a phenomenal success • Lower-level teams are always looking for players to act as mentors, consider volunteering • When in doubt, ask! I am very available by email or cell • Remember, tomorrow we all go back to our “regular lives” – reminder to play nice and be safe Julie

  23. INTRODUCING!!! THE COLLEGE REC DIVISION - 12 GAME SEASON WE NEED WHAM SUPPORT: Managers, think about the possibility of scrimmaging a college team. C3/2 are the best match for Carleton & Macalester, while B2/B1 would be best for Bethel & GAC. Email collegerec@whamhockey.org if your team is interested!! Coaches are also needed to help grow this division! Gustavus has immediate coaching needs! Special thanks to Bart Davidson our C2 commissioner ! Bart has been working on this opportunity for WHAM for 2 years! We also thank Anna Hardin, current B2 player and Macalester coach, for stepping up to take on the role of College Rec Commissioner!!! WHAM Handbook Rule Updates • 2013 B3 registrants now officially finalized as B3 players • Registered B3 Goalies can’t sub down to C1 • Move down policy now applies to B3 players – see handbook for full details • Players with U19 experience are now predetermined for A2 or above • Skills assessment applies for those who wish to challenge • Teams can have threesecondary players • Game rescheduling and cancellation section relating to weather conditions has been refined, please review with your team • Go to www.whamhockey.org to download the 2013-2014 Handbook!   28. NEW…Development leagues – WHY? • WHAM 2012 survey results • Members asked for off-season development and league play at all levels • C3 Division dissolved due to low team #s in 2012-13 • Little to no growth at C3 for past 4-5 years • No “feeder” program to get players started Sandi

NEW…Development leagues – HOW? • Initial Development League launched Fall 2012 • Posted development program opportunity in early spring newsletter • Established Development Director role – Sandi Wewerka • Advertised at local hockey events • WHAM co-hosted Play Hockey for Free (partnered with USA Hockey and AHA) • Attended Women’s Gopher Game • Flier handout • Video • Utilized WHAM Newsletter to promote • Sent information to local Youth Hockey Associations • Friends / Word of Mouth • All efforts resulted in lots of great hockey!! NEW…Development leagues • Hockey 101 – New Beginner League • 13-weeks of on-ice, chalk-talk and intense dry land with current women Gopher players • Instructors: Winny Brodt and Nadine Muzerall • 69 registered players (Two 13-week sessions) • GOAL: Re-establish C3 Division • 2013-2014 season has 8 registered teams!!! • Hockey 201 – Emphasis on C2 players • 8 weeks of on-ice instruction (90-minute ice time) • Instructors: Mike Curti and Jeff Conradi (Chicks with Sticks) • 28 women registered Sandi

NEW…Development leagues SUMMARY • 7 development leagues formed and filled to capacity this summer • 186+ players and goalies participated • WHAM subsidized • 13% of the league participated – room to grow! • C3 Division is now re-established and sustainable! • Addressed WHAM Survey feedback • Great collaboration with Winny, Nadine and the Gopher Women as well as Chicks with Sticks instructors Mike & Jeff and Robin and Kathy!! • Survey to be sent to all participants – help us make things even better in 2014, look for a Survey Monkey to arrive in the next 2 wks! MN Hockey Report Classifications • Senior Women’s A (Whitecaps) • Senior Women’s B • (Skilled A Players) • Senior Women’s C • (Skilled B1 Players) 2014 Nationals Women • April 2-6 Marlborough, MA • 4 Day Tournament , plan travel accordingly Teams declare intent by September 15th, letters of intent due by October 1st, 2013. • Rosters will be frozen December 21st. • Teams must play a minimum of 14 games (10-Senior A) against other rostered teams. • Each player must play in at least 10 of their teams games.   40. Registration 2013-2014 • Registration OPEN as of 9/6/13 • USA Hockey $40 • Minnesota Hockey fee $10 • WHAM fee $15 • Additional $10 for dual rostered players • WI residents charged +$10 due to state fee • All additional team fees are based on the individual team’s discretion. Erika

Hockey City Classic – January 17th, 2014 • TCF Stadium Outdoor Hockey Games – Bring your family and friends • WHAM group tickets sales now open • Options for $45 or $30 per tickets for purchase (no limit on quantity) • 4:30pm – Women’s Gopher game • 8:00pm – Men’s Gopher game • Both games included in ticket price • Go online to the homepage at www.whamhockey.org and click on Hockey City Classic Tix link on left hand side • Deadline for purchase is October 10th!!!
