  3. John Paul Jones • Scottish born • 1779 Commander of ship: Bonhomme Richard - attacked British ship Serapis • Ship badly damaged, fought on until British surrendered • “I have not yet begun to fight”

  4. Benedict Arnold • Major General in Continental Army • Led troops at Ticonderoga, Quebec, Saratoga • Wounded in same leg at Quebec and Saratoga (statue of boot in his honor) • Never promoted to General - bitter
