  5. 3) State & Regional Opportunities • Contribute to a newsletter • Attend the regional or state annual meeting • Facilitate at a meeting • Present at a meeting (present, co-present, panel, roundtable) • Participate in a webinar • Send questions to be distributed to a state or regional group for feedback • Volunteer for a committee • Run for an elected board position • Volunteer for an appointed board position • Volunteer to host a meeting near your school or university

  6. 4) AACRAO Opportunities • Contribute to an email newsletter – AACRAO Connect • Use the AACRAO website for information, research, supporting documents, data (or contribute something you have done!) • Attend AACRAO meetings (Annual, SEM, Tech and Transfer) • Facilitate a session at an AACRAO meeting • Offer ideas to the Professional Activities Committees (PACs) for sessions • Facilitate a session at an AACRAO meeting • Present at an AACRAO meeting • Serve on a committee • Become an AACRAO author • Submit a proposal to present a webinar for AACRAO • Nominate yourself and othersfor the Nominations &Elections Committee or a Board position

Tips and Tricks • Enter at a level at which you are comfortable and work your way up. • Two schools of thought: Don’t overcommit initially, OR take on a new challenge to further your knowledge and career! • Use your resources. Talk to someone who has done it before to find out how much time a position requires and how much travel.
