  2. READING THE WORD PSALM : 23 1- 4 JOHN 10 : 27 – 30 MARK 8 : 27 – 30 & ACTS 2 : 29 – 33

ZAMBIA GREETINGS • GREETINGS & APPRECIATION; • Greetings to the angel of the house Ps Bwalya & his dear wife, the cabinet team of this church, fathers & mothers, youth, Sunday school children as well as everyone of you in your respective categories not forgetting visitors like me. Good morning ! Finally my sincere appreciation to my host Ps Bwalya for the quick interview, not only with me but the Holy Spirit who confirmed in his heart that certainly I did not commission myself to Zambia but by Him.

  4. PSM 23:1-4 • David says the Lord is my shepherd – He speaks on a personal level. • It is like he says I don’t know who IS SHEPHERDING YOU ? But as for me – the Lord IS MY SHEPHERD

  5. SHEPHEREDS DRIVING SHEEP BEHIND • Don’t see where the sheep is going. Don’t care. • Don’t even know whether there is a ditch or a pit in front of the sheep. • Don’t know if there are jackals or other wild animals that may kill the sheep. • He will only hear by the screaming of the dying sheep that something is wrong. • He will probably be the first one to run for his life when he realises that the lion is in the field..

  6. KING DAVID SAYS • Not with my shepherd. He doesn't drive me where He doesn't know. • My shepherd Leads, Guides & Counsel me before the trouble. • Because his style of shepherding – I shall not be in want, He makes me lie down in green pastures.

  7. STYLE OF SHEPHERDING • He leads me besides the still waters. • He restores my soul. • He guides me in the paths of righteousness. • It is like he says I know other shepherds who don’t worry about their names. • But my shepherd cares about His Name. He wants me to be righteous and holy.

I DON’T CARE SHEPHERDS • They don’t worry about their names • They don’t care if you are right or wrong • They are not concerned , neither are they responsible. • You tell them that I saw your sheep smoking that side, they say leave them it is up to them. • I saw your sheep drinking – they say NO PROBLEM . Your sheep are fornicating ( No problem. Your sheep is committing fraud ( No problem you know we are living on earth. Your sheep is worshiping ancestors no problem it is their tradition.

  9. LEADING & GUIDING SHEPHERD • When Israel was challenged by the Philisteinian giant Goliath. David’s shepherd led him to the camp. • In Chapter 15 of 1 Samuel the shepherd dismissed Saul / retrenched or rejected him. • In chapter 16 the shepherd anointed David • In Chapter 17 the problem was solved through David. How ? The rock of ages went ahead of David and David followed to take the crown. • Hey church you don't dare to go to your interview before your pastor prays with you. You don't go out to by your house before you pray. etc

  10. DAVID AND GOLIATH

SAUL REJECT DAVID • When David said he was going to challenge Goliath, he was rejected by the king, the elder brothers but finally was given a chance because of his confidence in his shepherd. • He gave them his CV which indicated that he dealt with more canning & stubborn challenges than they were facing. • They gave him a driving shepherd pattern to challenge Goliath & he realised that it was a failing method then he took them off.

THE LEADING SHEPHERD 2 • Acts 2: 29-33 confirms that the leading shepherd doesn’t send the sheep to the grave but He first went into the grave & the grave couldn’t hold him. • He went to the grave so that you & I shouldn’t go there. • He died so that we can live. • He became poor so that we can be rich. • He was raised from the dead for our justification in to eternal life. • He was buried & we are buried with in the waters of baptism

  14. JIM ONEIL’S STORY: FLYING BLIND • A 65 years old Pilot Jim O’ Neil was flying from Glasgow Scotland to Colchester England when he suffered stroke attack after 40 minutes of his 4 hours journey. The stroke affected his sight and he became blind. • He could no longer see the dial in front of him. • He groped until he found a radio & called the Air traffic control office. The office contacted Paul Gerrard who was a Royal Airforce Wing Commander who was already in the air during training of other pilots.

  15. JIM STORY CONTINUES 2 • Paul took off in the direction of Jim O’Neill. • Paul gave Jim simple instruction on how to find the dials. He instructed him how to turn & when to go straight. • Paul was guiding Jim to the nearest runway and when he asked him if he could see the runway, Jim apologised as he was completely blind. He tried to land about 7 times but kept on bouncing back. The 8th time the blind Jim managed to safely land his plane.

  16. WHAT IS IT THAT HAS STRICKEN YOU? • Which voices are you hearing? There is a voice you can trust. Jesus asked His disciples who do people say that I am? John the Baptist, Elijah or one of the prophets. But who do you say that I am? Peter answered on behalf of the disciples. You are the Son of God, you are the Messiah. • This is the picture of so many voices that we hear when we are also in our cockpits. • Your Dr say abort , your lawyer says maintenance, your family say return home, your financial page shows the currency pointing down wards & Jesus says I will never leave you nor forsake you. I will bless you in the city & in the country. Who are you listening.

  17. cont. • LET ME SAY THAT THERE IS A VOICE YOU CAN TRUST & THAT IS THE VOICE OF JESUS. • AS I CLOSE MAY BE YOU ARE ONLY VISITING, YOU ARE CONFUSED BECAUSE OF SO MANY CHURCHES & YOU WONDER WHICH ONE IS RIGHT? OTHERS SAY THIS OTHERS SAY THAT. • THE DISCIPLES WERE SPEAKING ON BEHALF OF THE CONFUSION WE HAVE IN THE RELIGIOUS SECTORS. PETER REPRESENTED THE TRUE CHURCH OF THE LIVING GOD. • WHEN OTHERS SAY THERE IS NO SALVATION – LISTEN TO THE VOICE THAT SAYS BECAUSE GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGGOTEN SON THAT WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM SHALL HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE.

  18. THE SHEEP OF JESUS: John 10: 27 - 30 • How do you characterise the sheep of Jesus ? • David was boasting about His shepherd & Jesus is boasting about his sheep. • The sheep of Jesus is characterised by its nature of listening to the voice of the shepherd.
