Types of exam board Northbrook-only courses • Joint Area and Course Exam Board (single tier) • Considers module results and student achievement profiles • Chaired by Simon Ives Consortium courses • Area Exam Board considers module results • Course Exam Board considers student achievement profiles • Chaired by Head of School at University

  4. Information required (1): Student’s details • Family name, forenames and student number • Course title • Mode of study • Stage or level of study

  5. Information required (2): History • Previous progression decisions with dates • Number of modules passed and total credit awarded at each level to date • Conditions attached to previous progression (if any) and when ratified by exam board

  6. Current results for each module Credit rating Mark (in whole numbers) and grade for each component showing weighting Overall mark (in whole numbers) and grade for each module Number of attempts Information required (3)

  7. Information required (4) Further information • Were Mit Circs submitted? • Was APEL awarded? • Was Compensation awarded? • Was Academic Misconduct investigated? Award result calculated to 2 decimal places

  8. Pass Refer – make good by reassessment, capped at 40% Defer – only with accepted mit circs Fail/Repeat – capped at 40% Module decisions available to exam boards

  9. Progression decisions available to exam boards • Progress/recommend award • Progress with conditions • Compensate – credit but no additional marks • Do not progress • Repeat failed modules in p/t mode capped at 40% • Fail and withdraw

Appeals • Students may appeal within first 15 days after notification of results • Appeals procedure – GEAR H • Valid reasons: • Mitigating circumstances not considered or student unable for good reasons to submit them • Regulations were breached • Procedures were not followed by the exam board
