  2. Brain • Central Nervous System: Alcohol is aDepressant, which makes your reactions slower. Coordination is impaired, and speech is affected.

  3. Lungs • A small amount of alcohol can be exhaled through respiration. • Binge drinking slows respiration.

  4. Stomach • Irritation, can cause ulcers • Food can lessen the effects of alcohol on the stomach

  5. Liver • 90% of alcohol is metabolized by the liver (1/2 oz. per hour) • Cirrhosis- scarring of the liver

  6. Small Intestine • Site where alcohol is absorbed into the bloodstream

  7. Cardiovascular System • Alcohol causes blood vessels to dilate, which lowers body temperature • Slows heart rate.

  8. Kidneys • More urination leading to dehydration of body cells.

  9. Reproductive organs • Affects inhibitions • Interferes with sexual function.
