  2. Goya was born in Fuendetodos, Zaragoza, in 1746. His father painted churches. He used to help his father.Do you remember another spanish painter whose father was a painter too? Yes. It was Picasso.

  3. So, he started to paint in Churches. His first paintings are religious.

  4. San Antonio de la Florida.

  5. He went to Italy to study ARTS.

  6. After two years, he came back to Spain. • He went to Madrid. • He became official painter of King Carlos III and Carlos IV. Do you remember another spanish painter who worked for the Kings? Yes. It was Diego Velazquez. In fact, Goya was fan of Velazquez.

  9. As Velazquez, he painted portraits of important people. Duques de Osuna. King Carlos III

  10. Duquesa de Alba. Prime Minister Godoy

  11. But he also painted about spanish traditions and life. El quitasol. The Umbrella.

  12. La gallina ciega.Blind man’s buff.

  13. The Puppet. (El pelele).

  14. After an illness, Goya could not hear. He was deaf. He changed and he became a grumpy, serious man.

  15. The powerful Godoy asked Goya a painting of an undressed woman (nude, without clothes). Goya painted LA MAJA DESNUDA. THE NUDE MAJA.

  16. Everybody was shocked. • Goya was critized a lot. So, he had to paint: • LA MAJA VESTIDA. • THE DRESSED MAJA.

  17. Both MAJAs are the most known paintings of Goya.

  18. In 1808, Goya witnessed a rebellion of spanish people against the french invaders. Napoleón had invaded Spain and spanish people were very angry. • Goya painted THE MAMELUCS.

  19. Then, he painted:LOS FUSILAMIENTOS DEL 3 DE MAYO.THE THIRD OF MAY 1808. This picture is ROMANTIC.

  20. But, however, the war lasted 6 years. Goya was horrorized by the war. His paintings became dark and about MONSTERS. He said: EL SUEÑO DE LA RAZÓN PRODUCE MONSTRUOS. THE SLEEP OF REASON PRODUCES MONSTERS.

  21. WAR DISSATERS. Saturn eating his children.

  22. Goya hated WAR.WAR IS NOT GOOD. The situation in Spain was bad. So, he went to Burdeos, France, in retirement. He died in 1828.

  23. His last paintings were about BULLS.It is known as:TAUROMAQUIA. THE END
