CICTE’s Maritime Security Program: overview • Largest and most complex program • 3 sub-programs • Partners: the U.S. Coast Guard; Transport Canada; private sector—e.g. Business Alliance for Secure Commerce (BASC); and other OAS Departments (CICAD and CIP) • In 2008-2009: More than 25 events under three projects, training approximately 1,500 officials from Latin America and the Caribbean on the ISPS Code

CICTE’s Maritime Security Program: activities • APEC economies / OAS Member States: Chile, Mexico and Peru • Chile: • Crisis Management Exercise - June 24-26, 2009 • Sub-regional Best Practices Workshop for Southern Cone – last quarter 2009 • Mexico: • Sub-regional Best Practices Workshop for Central America/Mexico/Dominican Republic – November, 2008 • Port Security Assessment and Follow-on Training (Cozumel, Manzanillo, Los Cabos, and Coatzacoalcos) – October, 2009 • Peru: • Crisis Management Exercise - April 28-30, 2008 • Sub-regional Best Practices Workshop for Andean Countries – June, 2008 • Port Security Assessment and Follow-on Training (El Callao) – October, 2009

CICTE’s Maritime Security Program: APEC Manual • APEC Manual on Port Security Drills and Exercises • Workshop on the APEC Manual on Port Security Drills and Exercises, in Vancouver, Canada (February 25-27, 2009) • First Training Workshop on the APEC Manual on Port Security Drills and Exercises: beneficiary States: English-speaking Caribbean - St. Lucia (June 24-26, 2009) • Translation into Spanish in process and conduct of a second workshop for Spanish-speaking OAS countries in 2010
