  2. Rule of Thirds Use imaginary grid lines to divide your image into three sections vertically and horizontally. Place your subject on the intersection of the imaginary grid lines. This changes the prospective of the picture. ©2005cw

  3. Use this rule for portraits • Emphasize a sky by placing the horizon along the lower grid line • With a moving image, use this rule to put the subject to the right or left of the photo instead of in the middle • Busy shots become more orderly ©2005cw

  4. Try Unusual Angles • Be bold! • Get close to the subject • Turn the angle of the camera • Kneel down • Lie on the ground ©2005cw

  5. Frame your subject • Add depth to the image by framing it with foreground objects ©2005cw

  6. Pay attention to lines • Lines add energy and movement • Lines can draw the viewer into the image • Lines can lead the viewer’s eye in a specific direction ©2005cw

  7. Look for patterns of lines • Diagonals • Curves • Don’t let lines throw the picture off balance (keep the horizon level) ©2005cw

  8. Avoid Cluttered Backgrounds • It can obscure your main subject • It can overwhelm your subject • Move around to get a clear shot • Don’t let the background merge with the subject ©2005cw

  9. Look for Interesting Reflections and Shadows ©2005cw

  10. All the pictures in this PowerPoint are from Microsoft Clipart. This will be used for training purposes. ©2005cw
