  4. B. Famous landmarks 1. Notre Dame Cathedral Notre Dame is a famous cathedral of Paris and one of the most famous buildings in all of Europe. It stands on a small island in the Seine River in the heart of Paris.

  5. 2. Eiffel Tower Built by Gustave Eiffel, a famous bridge designer, for the 1889 International Fair in Paris. He wanted to prove how steel and iron could be used to build tall structures. It took two years to complete. There are 1,652 steps to the top. 3. The Louvre (the world’s largest art museum)

  6. The Louvre is the largest and most famous art gallery in the world. It was originally built as a palace for French kings in 1200, but years later was changed into an art museum. It covers more than 40 acres, and houses more than 1 million works of art. Probably the most famous painting in the Louvre is the Mona Lisa.

  8. The Tour de France (bicycle race) The Tour de France is an annual bike race held each year in July. It brings together the best cyclists in the world. The race lasts for 3 weeks, covering over 3,000 miles! There are 20 stages to the race through very difficult terrain. Several stages are comprised of mountains. Riders only have two days of rest during the whole race! The winner receives a cash prize, world recognition and gets to wear the famed “yellow jersey”. What American cyclist has won the Tour de France a record 6 times?
