  10. Ground Rules – FP&L Local Utility Company Electrical Service Rules

  11. Ground Rules – FP&L Voltages Under 600V – Most Common In most locations, FPL's overhead secondary distribution system provides service at the following standard voltage: - Single phase, 120/240 volt, three wire - Typically Residential Style In some locations, FPL's system is able to provide service at the following voltages: - Three phase, 120/208 volt, four wire wye - Three phase, 277/480 volt, four wire wye - Typically Commercial & Industrial

  12. Ground Rules – FP&L Voltages Under 600V – Most Common Single phase, 120/240 volt, three wire - Typically Residential Style - Less than 167KVA Three phase, 120/208 volt, four wire wye - Typically Commercial & Institutional - 150KVA to 300KVA Three phase, 277/480 volt, four wire wye - Typically Commercial & Industrial - 300KVA to 3000KVA

  13. Math Moment What is a KVA?

  14. Math Moment KVA = kilovolt-ampere Kilo = 1000 Volt-ampere = product of voltage times amperage with respect to single phase and three phase arrangements 3-Phase Example: 100 amps x 208V x SQRT(3) = 36,000 VA or 36KVA 1-phase Example: 100 amps x 240V x SQRT(1) = 24,000VA or 24KVA
