  2. Introductions – New Faculty • Mrs. Deborah Few – Teaching 10th Grade PIB English • Also is assisting with the Extended Essay • Teaching TOK with Mr. Freddie McKenzie • Mr. Schuyler Huff • Teaching 9th Honors Biology, 11th AP Biology, and 12th IB Biology

  3. IB News at Daphne High • Continued increase in Diploma Rate • 2010 – 20% • 2011 – 17% • 2012 – 32% • 2013 – 53% • Dr. Dennis Day added as a consultant • Helping out with History of the Americas • Helping out with Extended Essay • Helping out with Theory of Knowledge

  4. News Continued • Excellent Results in our first year of HL Theatre and HL Music courses • Theatre got two 6’s, a 4, and a 3 • Music got a 5 and a 4 • All teachers are continuing in the Professional Development • Most have been Level 2 Trained • Continuing to add resources and prepare our students for the exams in May • IB Students are part of our growing AP program – Daphne High is hosting the statewide AP Celebration!

Seniors – Benefits they have • Took AP Exams as Juniors – A+ College Ready Grant • For English, Science, and Math (Only can do Statistics) • First class to use our new Naviance software • Assists with University selection, Scholarship opportunities, Career Selection, Post graduation tracking, ACT preparation • Will be well prepared for University • Everyone is invited to come hear our previous graduates speak at Christmas time

  8. Senior Year! • Complete and turn in Extended Essay – By Thanksgiving • Complete, document and reflect upon CAS hours • Complete and turn in all Internal Assessments for each subject area • Study and practice for IB Exams • IB Exams in May

  10. JUNIORS • Officially in the IB Diploma Programme • Will be taking AP Exams this year • In English, Science, and Statistics • Junior year is the toughest year so support them • Work on CAS Hours and Extended Essay this year

Sophomores – Old Pros • Taking AP US History – will take the AP Exam in May • Continue to increase workload and rigor to prepare for IB Program • Start thinking about your Extended Essay topic • Will make the big decision in March • Science – IB Physics or IB Biology • Math – Statistics or Calculus (Must take calculus if taking Physics) • Fine Art – Music or Theatre

  12. Freshmen – Welcome to High School! • Welcome to Daphne High School • Classes are the same as AP Diploma students • Encouraged to take the AP World History Exam in May • Advantages of two more year-long classes • Remember that the Freshman and Sophomore years are extremely similar to AP tract

  13. SEEDS • Always supportive of IB and our students • Please join to help with that support • Please participate in their many fundraising events • Mama Mia will be November 9th

  14. In Conclusion • Five year review is due December of 2014 • If there is ever any question, please see me, call me or email me to get an honest and reliable answer – DON’T LISTEN TO RUMORS!!! • Will meet again in the spring
