  2. Who is it? • He fought for freedom and racial equality in America • He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.

  4. Who is it? • His father is from Kenya and his mother is from Kansas. • He was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961. • He is the first Black African-American president in the U.S.A.

  6. Who is it? • When he was 9 months old, his dad sawed off a golf club to make it very short so he could strike the ball into the net. • When he was 18 months old he began going to the golf course with Dad. • One of the most successful golfers in history

  8. Who is it? • He’s black • He’s British • He’s a sportsman • He is the first black person in his sport • He is the first black person to win the big trophy in his sport

  10. Who is it? • He’s from Jamaica. • He is regarded as the fastest man ever. • He is the first man to hold both the 100m and 200m gold Olympic medals. • He has a nickname of ‘lightning bolt’.

  14. Martin Luther King was born in this house more than 80 years ago.

  15. He liked to play baseball and football. He liked riding his bike. He played with kites and model planes.

  16. There were no white children at Martin’s school. The law said that children with different skin colours could not go to the same school.

  17. Martin was a very clever boy and he worked really hard at school. He went to college when he was only 15 years old.

  18. Martin wanted to be a minister in the church. He wanted to make the lives of black people better because some were treated very badly. He worked hard and learned about people who tried to change things in a peaceful way. He did not want to get angry and fight.

  19. Martin met a lady called Coretta. She was a singer. They got married and had 4 children. Coretta helped Martin with his work.

  20. Martin organised peaceful marches to help people be kinder and fairer to each other.

  21. Martin gave a famous speech in Washington. He talked about his dream.Thousands of people listened to him speak.

  22. Many people listened to him talking and agreed with him.

  23. Martin changed many people’s minds and new laws were made that were fairer to black people.When Martin died people all over the world were very sad.
