The Sociology department has over 1000 majors and the Juvenile Delinquency course is a popular course. • Natural intersection with the course’s focus on theories, prevention, and intervention, the team’s individual goals, and the goals of the CESI grant.

And the reverse, to learn how to take concrete application to inform ongoing developemtn of the abstract concepts.

  5. Goal of Project Community Partner • Student support of the current DTWT project to do outreach to middle schools principals, teachers, and school district superintendent’s office • Gain insight on current research in DTWT’s focus area • Co-creation and implementation of an essay to practice design for DTWT essay participants • Mentor UMass Students as Peace Circle facilitators and data collectors • Obtain resources, defined by community partners, for the middle school students involved in the peace circles • Build ongoing community and student involvement with BCVI on campus and in the community

  6. Outcome of Project • Ongoing partnership with DTWT, Peace Circles, and BCVI • New “Essay to Practice” applications of middle schools students ideas • Continue to develop online connections between faculty, students, and community and the middles school essays that are available online at www.umb.edu/BCVI

  7. What Team Wants to Get • Resources from the CESI community: The support team, Cohort 1, Cohort 2, and the many faculty on campus that have significant wisdom in the area of community engaged scholarship • Resources from the workshop process • Provide feedback to the CESI community on opportunities and outcomes
