  1. COMPROMISING Steps to Success To compromise,you: • Think of a way everyone can do part of what they want: • Do each idea • Take turns • Give up part of what everyone wants. • Do something different. • Use a friendly face and voice. • Exchange suggestions. • Come to an agreement. • Do it.

  2. COMPROMISING • TODAY we are going to practice compromising. When you compromise, you come to a solution that is acceptable to everyone involved, not just you. That means you might have to give up some of what you want.

  3. DISCUSSSION QUESTIONS • What is a topic? • What are some common topics of conversation? • What does shared topic mean? • Why do you think it is important to choose a shared topic to talk about? • How would I start a conversation about my summer vacation?

WAYS TO START A CONVERSATION • Conversations can start with a question or with a comment. • You know what? • Can I tell you something? • I had a great time at the sea. • What did you do for summer vacation? • I like to _(pizza)__ Ian, what is your favorite __(pizza)__? Practice topics: favorite foods, favorite movies, favorite color and favorite game.

  5. INSTRUCTIONS • From the “Who” envelope I will choose the “friend” coupon. • You might choose from the “Where” coupons “mall” from the “When” coupons you might choose “shopping” and from the “What Topic” coupons you might choose “birthday party.” • A need one student to be the judge to determine whether or not a chosen coupon matches the other selections.
