  1. HISTORY OF THE BALL

  2. Imagine kicking a skull or pig's bladder around an open field to pass the time. If you lived in medieval days or even prior to the twentieth century, that's what you may have been doing.

  3. The history of the soccer ball dates back to ancient times. From a couple centuries BC to about 200 AD, the Chinese used balls made from animal skins in a game called 'tsuchu', in which players had to pass them through a net stretched between two poles. The ancient Greeks, Romans, and even the Egyptians are recorded to have enjoyed a similar game that involved kicking a makeshift ball.

  4. It wasn't until the twentieth century that most soccer balls were made out of rubber. Charles Goodyear in 1855 created the first vulcanized rubber soccer ball. Panels similar to that of today's basketball were glued together at the seams.

  5. What is Oina?Oină is a Romanian traditional sport, similar in many ways to baseball and lapta. • Oina ball is spherical with a diameter of approx. 8 cm, circumference approx. 25 cm and weight approx. 140 gr. It is made of leather and filled with horse hair, beef or pork in or sawdust, rags, rocks, sand or tanned hair . • Oină was first mentioned during the rule of VlaicuVodă in 1364, when it spread all across Wallachia. Its origins are disputed, theories ranging from a shepherd game to a war game.

  6. Styles Bouncy ball designs have evolved from simple solid colors to complex designs like tie-dye, streaks, see-through, sparkles and neon. Novelty styles are also common, such as eye balls, billiard balls, happy faces and sports balls. Although there are plenty of high tech toys out there, sometimes it is the simplest toys that captures the imagination of young children. Bouncy balls have been a staple of youth for a long time, and this colorful toy has plenty of interesting history.

  7. DID YOU KNOW IT ? There are two golf balls sitting on the Moon.On the first moon landing, US astronaut Alan Shepard swung a six iron four times. His first swing moved the ball less than a meter; his second swing missed and kicked up some dust. The third swing hit that same first ball about 200 yards - a slice. Then he dropped a second ball, and his fourth swing hit the ball about 400 yards.
